    New project manager sugar palms in West Kalimantan
    Masarang's master tapper Nico is already approaching the age of 55, which is the age at which people in Indonesia usually retire. Next to that, the enthusiasm and demand for sugar palms in West-Kalimantan are increasing.

    New nursery in Tomohon
    The employees of Masarang are working hard besides the sugar factory in Tomohon to build a nursery for producing sugar palm seedlings for various projects in Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

    At this moment they are working hard in Tasikoki on a new fence for the two male orang utans 'Is' and 'Bento'.

    Otter Foundation project steams ahead.
    Thanks to a donation from the Otter Foundation, we are working hard in West-Kalimantan to spread the sugar palms. Not only we hope to spread ca. 40000 seedlings, we also train 1000 farmers from 100 Dayak villages.

    New scholarships for the year 2013
    On the 28th of December, a ceremony was organized in Rurukan around the handing out of new scholarships for more than 100 students that are attending elementary or secondary school. Also some students got a scholarship for college.

    Expansion reforestation Pulisan with 1000 sugar palms
    Nearly 10 years ago Masarang in Pulisan (North Sulawesi) fully reforested an area of approximately 80 hectares. On the barren grasslands surrounding it, another 1000 young sugar palms are now planted.

    On April 25th the terrible news reached us that the Masarang release site for macaques in the jungle of Sulawesi has been attacked and set on fire. One guard was killed and another one injured.

    Re-introduction macaques in the wild
